The Executive Development Programme as a Development Opportunity.

The Executive Development Programme (EDP) brings together high-calibre executive managers with strategic management responsibilities from a wide range of sectors to increase personal leadership insight and develop strategic knowledge, skills and professional networks. This is the top-tier

programme of USB-ED’s comprehensive programme offerings and is facilitated by world-class local and international faculty. It includes personal career coaching, as well as an optional international study module in the following year.

This programme equips participants with integrated strategic management and leadership skills that enable them to align their business practices to compete more successfully in a highly competitive global environment.


What will be required of you?

You will be required to attend two classroom-based study blocks of 10 days each from Mondays to Fridays, 08:15–17:30. Between study blocks, you will be required to complete individual and group assignments, as well as a comprehensive reflective essay.


NQF alignment

The scope and presentation of this programme are aligned with the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Level 8.


Admission requirements

No formal tertiary qualifications are required. Candidates must have relevant experience and must have held a senior and/or executive management position for at least two years. Sound general knowledge/ experience of functional management (marketing, finance, human resources, etc.) is a further entry-level requirement for admission. Admission is subject to a selection process, which may include a personal interview.



On successful completion of the programme (which requires attendance of all classroom-based study blocks as well as passing of all assignments), you will receive a certificate of competence from Stellenbosch University. The following chart explains the focal areas of this programme.

20 Days over 2 Study Blocks. The duration includes study blocks, assignments and final presentation.

Fees include programme fees, programme material, lunch and refreshments, and are payable before the commencement of the programme.
